What materials do you use for your drawings? I use Copic Ciao markers and Touch Twin Markers, Quill Multiboard white paper, 2B and HB Pentel and Faber-Castell 0.5 mechanical pencils and Faber-Castell PVC-Free Space Eraser (Cool name) and I use Uni-ball Signo white fineliner 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? No. I am taking Studio Arts in senior high school right now. It's not from that class that I learned what I know. I am learning new things from the class, but so far, not to do with fashion illustration or manga drawings. I go to a regular high school, so it doesn't specialize in art. 3. How do you draw the models? Do you use any templates? I started out by tracing models from magazines which is harder than it sounds, but once you get the hang of it, its pretty easy. Then of course, I searched all types of videos on YouTube and some sites as well on Google, which unfortunately, I don't remember. 4. How old are you? I am now 18 years old 5. How long have you been drawing? I'm pretty sure I started drawing at 6. That's probably my oldest memory of me drawing. I got into manga drawings when I was 11 years old, I started teaching myself how to draw manga when I was 13 years old. I started developing an interest in fashion design also when I was 11, but I pursued that interest or taken it further at the age of 14. So, I would say I started drawing fashion illustration at the age of 14. 6. Where do you get your inspiration? I get my inspiration from music, photos on Instagram, fashion trends, things that I love. There are times where I am just in an Artist's Block and I feel really brain dead where I can't draw. Or I force myself to draw and it never turns out to be something I like. I am currently in an Artist's Block which has been going on since late October 2011, and I am finding ways to get out of it. I'll keep you posted on how I break through it :] 7. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? Definitely! Fashion Illustration by Anna Kiper and Fashion Poses for Fashion Illustrators by Sha Tahmasebi are two books that I own at the moment. I'm hoping to get more. My art materials to draw fashion sketches | Justine Leconte

04:50
This video shows you the art supplies that I use to draw fashion sketches: SKETCHING: HB and 2B grey pencils (I forgot to mention the erasers: a regular one, one that has a thin tip and a kneaded eraser which doesn’t leave residues on the sheet of paper) Graphite for quick sketching Charcoal pencil for the shadowing and to get really black backgrounds Ink pens (PIGMA 005, 05 and 1 // FABER-CASTELL Small, Medium & Bold) Fixative (either from the art supplies store or a simple hairspray) COLORING: Markers: Chartpak AD / Copic / Prismacolor (several colors + darker shades of those colors, warm and cold greys, several black tones, several skin tones and a blender) Color pencils: a regular box of colors will do the job (but you need white, black, grey and a skin tone) PAPER: Sketchbook in a format that fits your pre-made croquis, slightly see-through Marker paper (bleedproof) in a larger format. 11 Tips & Techniques | Fashion Sketching

04:04
Watch more How to Draw Fashion Sketches videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501932-11-Tips-and-Techniques-Fashion-Sketching Learn eleven fashion sketching tips and techniques from fashion designer Garo Sparo in this Howcast video. All right, here are some tricks of the trade, shortcuts, call them whatever you want but they're really going to help you out in fashion design. First thing is always have a good croquis that you've developed, okay? That's what's going to make everything easier when you're sketching your clothes. I'm just going to sketch and talk through this but, one thing is, you never want to start with pen, unless you're really confident. You always want a good mechanical pencil. You start your sketch in pencil; you know you can just always go in and erase the pencil. I'm going to do like a gown with a train here. I have my little croquis underneath so that's helping me out, making it go real fast. And another thing that you want to always have on hand, because even if after you've inked in your sketch, is whiteout. Whiteout is a great thing. It will never show up on a scan when you finally scan the finished product into your computer, because you can then print it out and have a gorgeous, clean version; that's another trick. So do your sketch, you scan it in, you lose all the whiteout and whatever else you've done to it; even if you've done patchwork or what have you, you'll never know. Photoshop is a good trick for coloring things in, though I don't use it, I'm kind of old-fashioned that way. You know you really don't have to draw hair. Hair is not that important. You don't have to draw hands if you don't want to; it's not about the hands. You want a good eraser because you are going to mess up, I promise. A definite don't is do not ink until you're ready because you don't want to have to redraw something. Especially if you have a client sitting right beside you; they're not going to want to sit there and watch you draw it all over again. Another great thing is to have a sketching kit that you can pretty much take with you wherever you go because you never know when you're going to get inspired to do what you're going to do. You want to have it on-hand so that you get that idea right out of your head before it's gone. It's happened to me a million times and I learned my lesson. Once I'm happy with the sketch, I will usually go in and give it some ink. And even at this point, you still can ink in the sketch and not worry about the pencil; that's what erasers are for, it's no big deal. So here we go. And try to keep your lines smooth and beautiful. And don't be fazed if they break because that just adds some dimension and what not, "character" we'll call it. She's in a long cap sleeve gown. I'm really into like elongating the body with seam lines; that's one of my things. And even if you don't go straight over your pencil lines, just kind of go with the flow; let your body feel it as you go. Don't over think it; that's a big no-no. Give it some bead work. And like you know, even if you're drawing lace, if you're drawing a plaid, what have you, as long as you have a piece of the fabric on the same page, it really could just be a little squiggle on the sketch; it's not really meant to be that literal. Don't get too hung up on those details. Because it's all about giving the notion of what the finished product is going to be and showing who you're making it for, or who you're trying to get your point across to, right there and then. Those are some of the tricks of the trade, shortcuts, et cetera.

I am at the stage of purchasing the prizes, so I shall make the video soon. These two books are very helpful if you're a beginner or even if you want to be a bit more advanced. http://www.monkeysee.com/play/5156-how-to-draw-clothes-on-a-fashion-figure this is a very basic tutorial but seriously, this tutorial helped me when I was just starting. My fashion illustration of an outfit from Josie Natori's Spring 2015 collection. This is not the full process, just the sketching and partial rendering/coloring... I did the final details and rendering off camera, as it was rather difficult with the camera between me and the sketchpad (and ipad).... Hope you like it! How to Color an Illustration in Photoshop

26:43
I Guarantee I Can Teach You to Master Photoshop. Learn How: https://phlearn.com/aaronwillteachyou How to Color an Illustration in Photoshop Anyone can be an illustrator in Photoshop! Learn How to Color an Illustration in Photoshop in today's episode. Start by downloading an image from a stock website like Fotolia, or scanning in your very own work! If you want to follow along with this episode, click HERE to purchase Fotolia's pineapple: https://us.fotolia.com/id/62812427 Coloring in the lines Let's travel back in time to coloring books and crayons....be sure to color in those lines! To make this job much easier, use a selection tool to select just the background of the illustration (this will depend on what type of image you have. If it makes more sense, feel free to select the illustration itself instead). Then, turn the selection into a layer mask. You will need to invert the mask (Cmd/Ctrl + I) if you selected the background originally. That mask will be applied to a group that holds all of your layers. Now, when you paint on top of the image, you will only be able to color inside of the lines. Yay. Time to have some fun! Select whatever color you want to start with and have at it! Your mask will restrict you to staying within the lines, but that can always be turned off. It's also helpful to put each color you paint with on a different layer, so that you can go back in and edit them individually. Highlight & Shade Art tip #1: Figure out where the light source is! We decided that on the pineapple, the light/sun will be coming from the upper left corner. This means that the parts closest to that angle will be the brightest and have highlights. It also means that shadow would fall on the opposite side of the fruit. Highlights and shadows will help to make your illustration look much more realistic. We recommend using the color palette to use a darker version of your illustration colors for the shading, and a lighter version for the highlights. Using a dark color is much better than just using a grey or black. Don't Forget the Details To add some really nice and subtle detail, we paint some reds and yellows over top of the pineapple and change the blending mode to Soft Light (this is on a new layer). We do the same in the leaves of the fruit, and it makes the illustration much more interesting and dynamic! Although we already painted in some general highlights and shadows, some tiny little strokes will add a nice effect too. We create a new layer and draw some tiny white highlights on the tops of the leaves and the round parts of the pineapple bumps. The same is done for the shadows, by adding some dark strokes underneath the leaves and on the underside of the pineapple bumps. That's all there is to it! You can really have some fun with this technique, so don't be afraid to experiment with crazy colors and drawings! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VISIT PHLEARN.COM FOR MORE FREE TUTORIALS https://phlearn.com SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL FOR MORE FREE TIPS AND TRICKS http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=phlearnllc GET FREE TUTORIALS IN YOUR EMAIL + DISCOUNTS ON OUR PRO TUTORIALS! https://phlearn.com/mail BUY THE TABLET AARON USES! https://phlearn.com/tablet LET'S BE FRIENDS!
