Deep Sea Creatures [National Geographic Documentary 2017 HD]

53:56
Deep Sea Creatures [National Geographic Documentary 2017 HD] The Deep sea creature refers to organisms that live below the photic zone of the ocean. These creatures must survive in extremely harsh conditions, such as hundreds of bars of pressure, small amounts of oxygen, very little food, no sunlight, and constant, extreme cold. Most creatures have to depend on food floating down from above. These creatures live in very demanding environments, such as the abyssal or hadal zones, which, being thousands of meters below the surface, are almost completely devoid of light. The water is between 3 and 10 degrees Celsius and has low oxygen levels. Due to the depth, the pressure is between 20 and 1,000 bars. Creatures that live hundreds or even thousands of meters deep in the ocean have adapted to the high pressure, lack of light, and other factors. The depths of the ocean are festooned with the most nightmarish creatures imaginable. You might think you’re safe, because these critters live thousands of feet down in a cold dark abyss, but the vampire squid, which looks like a nightmare umbrella, and the frilled shark—a literal living fossil—will live on in the recesses of your mind long after you’ve clicked away. Enjoy these deep sea horrors and try to have a relaxing day afterward. ► NOTE : I'm a big fan of National Geographic and I just collect the best parts of National Geographic. I do not make money from National Geographic's Video. Thanks You very much

Deepest Part of The Oceans - Full Documentary HD

Measuring the Greatest Ocean Depth The Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench is the deepest known point in Earth's oceans. In 2010 the United States Center for Coastal & Ocean Mapping measured the depth of the Challenger Deep at 10,994 meters (36,070 feet) below sea level with an estimated vertical accuracy of ± 40 meters. If Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth, were placed at this location it would be covered by over one mile of water. The first depth measurements in the Mariana Trench were made by the British survey ship HMS Challenger, which was used by the Royal Navy in 1875 to conduct research in the trench. The greatest depth that they recorded at that time was 8,184 meters (26,850 feet). In 1951, another Royal Navy vessel, also named the "HMS Challenger," returned to the area for additional measurements. They discovered an even deeper location with a depth of 10,900 meters (35,760 feet) determined by echo sounding. The Challenger Deep was named after the Royal Navy vessel that made these measurements. In 2009, sonar mapping done by researchers aboard the RV Kilo Moana, operated by the University of Hawaii, determined the depth to be 10,971 meters (35,994 feet) with a potential error of ± 22 meters. The most recent measurement, done in 2010, is the 10,994 meter ( ± 40 meter accuracy) depth reported at the top of this article, measured by the United States Center for Coastal & Ocean Mapping.

The deep ocean is the final frontier on planet Earth

14:49
The ocean covers 70% of our planet. The deep-sea floor is a realm that is largely unexplored, but cutting-edge technology is enabling a new generation of aquanauts to go deeper than ever before. Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: http://econ.trib.al/rWl91R7 Beneath the waves is a mysterious world that takes up to 95% of Earth's living space. Only three people have ever reached the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean. The deep is a world without sunlight, of freezing temperatures, and immense pressure. It's remained largely unexplored until now. Cutting-edge technology is enabling a new generation of aquanauts to explore deeper than ever before. They are opening up a whole new world of potential benefits to humanity. The risks are great, but the rewards could be greater. From a vast wealth of resources to clues about the origins of life, the race is on to the final frontier The Okeanos Explorer, the American government state-of-the-art vessel, designed for every type of deep ocean exploration from discovering new species to investigating shipwrecks. On board, engineers and scientists come together to answer questions about the origins of life and human history. Today the Okeanos is on a mission to investigate the wreck of a World War one submarine. Engineer Bobby Moore is part of a team who has developed the technology for this type of mission. The “deep discover”, a remote operating vehicle is equipped with 20 powerful LED lights and designed to withstand the huge pressure four miles down. Equivalent to 50 jumbo jets stacked on top of a person While the crew of the Okeanos send robots to investigate the deep, some of their fellow scientists prefer a more hands-on approach. Doctor Greg stone is a world leading marine biologist with over 8,000 hours under the sea. He has been exploring the abyss in person for 30 years. The technology opening up the deep is also opening up opportunity. Not just to witness the diversity of life but to glimpse vast amounts of rare mineral resources. Some of the world's most valuable metals can be found deep under the waves. A discovery that has begun to pique the interest of the global mining industry. The boldest of mining companies are heading to the deep drawn by the allure of a new Gold Rush. But to exploit it they're also beating a path to another strange new world. In an industrial estate in the north of England, SMD is one of the world's leading manufacturers of remote underwater equipment. The industrial technology the company has developed has made mining possible several kilometers beneath the ocean surface. With an estimated 150 trillion dollars’ worth of gold alone, deep-sea mining has the potential to transform the global economy. With so much still to discover, mining in the deep ocean could have unknowable impact. It's not just life today that may need protecting; reaching the deep ocean might just allow researchers to answer some truly fundamental questions. Hydrothermal vents, hot springs on the ocean floor, are cracks in the Earth's crust. Some claim they could help scientists glimpse the origins of life itself. We might still be years away from unlocking the mysteries of the deep. Even with the latest technology, this kind of exploration is always challenging. As the crew of the Okeanos comes to terms with a scale of the challenge and the opportunity that lies beneath, what they and others discover could transform humanity's understanding of how to protect the ocean. It's the most hostile environment on earth, but the keys to our future may lie in the deep. How Deep Is the Ocean In Reality?

17:26
A whopping 94% of all life-forms on Earth are aquatic. Such a huge number of living beings who can't survive without water is understandable. After all, more than 70% of our planet's surface is covered with water. The World Ocean includes the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean. There's enough water in the oceans to fill a 685-mile-long bathtub! One of the main nagging questions people have been asking for ages is "How deep is the ocean in reality?" Let’s find an answer to it. TIMESTAMPS Sunlit zone 1:21 Twilight zone 6:17 Midnight zone 10:19 The abyss 13:17 Trench zone 14:25 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -The Sunlit zone stretches from 14.5 ft, that is is the depth of a standard Olympic diving pool, to 561 ft under the water’s surface, where RMS Carpathia found her last dwelling. This ship became famous after her participation in the rescue of the Titanic survivors. -At 656 ft, the twilight zone begins. That's where you can see the giant oarfish. At a depth of 1,453 ft, you could reach the height of the Empire State Building if somebody powerful enough decided to submerge it under the water. The giant squid lives as deep as 2,952 ft below the surface. This is where the Twilight zone ends. -At a depth of 3,608 ft, there's the deepest volcano recorded by scientists. At 12,795 ft below the water’s surface, there are Air France flight 447 black boxes. Airbus A330 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean in 2009. This is where the Midnight zone ends. -At a depth of 13,123 ft, the midnight zone ends, and the abyss lies ahead. 18,897 ft is the bottom of the abyss and the depth at which you can find the deepest shipwreck. SS Rio Grande sunk in 1941 in the South Atlantic and was discovered only in 1996. -At a depth of 19,685 ft, the abyss ends and gives way to the trench zone. At a depth of 36,070 ft, you will reach the very bottom of the ocean in its deepest point known to man: Challenger Deep. Deep Sea Mysteries

11:59
The ocean is vast and full of things we as humans have yet to discover. Put on your scuba suits, this one’s one’s going to be quite the ride. Hopefully, strange noises, odd creatures, and mysterious structures don’t scare you. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 5. Colossal Squid Remember that small vampire squid? Yeah, take that and then make it like a million times bigger. Okay, not a million, but from this picture of one dried up on the shore, you understand. No to be confused with the giant squid, the colossal squid differs in that their tentacles have little hooks on them. They’re similar in length, though colossal squid are said to be stouter and heavier. These rare and terrifying creatures are a result of a phenomenon that is known as abyssal gigantism, where invertebrates in the deep sea are much larger in size so as to adapt to the smaller portions of food sources. Colossal squid have been seen to grow up to 46 ft long, weighing up to 1,650 pounds. Also, their eyes are said to be the biggest in the whole of the animal kingdom, their eyeballs measuring up to 11 inches in diameter. 4. USS Saratoga Admittedly, this photo looks terrifying, though do not be alarmed too much by the sight of it. What you see before you is the anchor hawse hole that was once part of the USS Saratoga. This gigantic artifact was discovered in the Bikini Atoll in Micronesia, were many a seacraft have met their demise. The anchor hawse hole has been sunken in the water for so long that it was naturally taken over by the aquatic environment, turning into something that is initially unrecognizable. 3. Mariana Trench Mystery Shark Oh, so you thought that that great white shark cannibal was the most of your worries as far as sharks go? Well think again, because something even more mysterious than that 16 foot shark eating shark is the Mariana Trench Mystery Shark. Footage of this elusive shark was apparently captured by marine biologists from Japan. The footage was concluded to have been taken from Suruga Bay in Japan. To give you some context, here’s how an average person measures up to more common sharks. And that biggest one is the mystery shark. There’s even been speculation that this shark may in fact be a megalodon, a species that’s said to have been extinct for millions of years. 2. The Bloop It might not be the most epic or mysterious sounding of titles, but its nomenclature doesn’t make it any less intriguing once you hear what The Bloop is. In the year 1997, a bloop, or low frequency underwater sound was detected in the south Pacific Ocean by the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The sound was said to be powerful, at and was at first likened to the sound icequakes that take place in icebergs make. About 5 years later, it was then said to be more similar to a marine animal--though this was again disputed and the ice theory was considered to be conclusive. But within the scramble to figure out what the sound was, there were people saying perhaps == was real after all. Underwater Waterfall This is definitely a real picture of a real place--not something out of a fantasy land. This is the underwater waterfall located in the Denmark Strait. It is the largest underwater waterfall in the world, and is also known as the Denmark Strait Cataract or the North Atlantic Circulation Pump. It can be found on the western side of the strait located in the Atlantic Ocean and is quite the sight to see indeed. It’s as if the earth was opened and is swallowing the surface world whole--which is a nice thought. The waterfall measures up to 11,500 ft deep and was formed due to varying temperatures between the eastern and western water masses. The flow rate is over 175 million cubic ft per second and is said to be the most voluminous water fall in the world.

12 Bizarre Things Found in the Deep Sea

08:18
From strange-looking sea creatures that look like funnels to underwater plane wrecks that serve as a playground for the fishes. Subscribe for new videos weekly! 7. A New Pufferfish Researchers have managed to recently figure out the answer to a 20-year-old mystery under the ocean while discovering a new fish. There were these intricate circles with geometric designs that were being created and no one had any logical reason as to how these designs were being made. These “underwater” crop circles are located on the seafloor by the coast of Amami-Ōshima Island. Turns out the circles aren’t actually circles, but really they’re nests with double edges that are made by this new species of pufferfish as a way to protect their eggs from harsh ocean currents and maybe even predators as well. The males are the ones who construct the nest by swimming and wriggling back and forth in the sand in order to attract a female during mating season. Yoji Okata was the first to witness this and soon after a team of ichthyologists went out on an expedition along with a tv crew to capture the whole thing on film. 6. A New Sea Slug This new species of sea slug was discovered last year near the Japanese Islands and measures in at about an inch long, give or take. The slug is considered as a “missing link” between sea slugs that feast on hydroids and those that happen to feed on corals. The photogenic gastropod’s elegant lines and beautifully bright coloration make them wondrous beauties of the deep. The newly identified slug which when photographed is captured in shades of blue, red and gold, also helps in having a better knowledge of the dawning of an unusual symbiosis in other species in the same genus. Relatives of the sea slugs have multi-branched guts in which algae called zooxanthellae reside. The algae have a symbiotic relationship with the coral that the sea slug eats and once ingested, the algae then begin to create essential nutrients for its host, the sea slug. 5. An Underwater Playground What was once a transporter airplane that flew the skies during the second World War, now lies at the bottom of the ocean as a relic. But that is just how we see it. The skeleton of the airplane has merged with the ocean’s delicate ecosystem and now serves as a home to tropical fish, shrimps, and other types of sea creatures. The Douglas Dakota DC-3 was once used by the Turkish and was deliberately sent to the bottom of the ocean at 21 meters way back in July of 2009 in order to create a sort of “underwater playground” for divers from all over. An underwater photographer named Andrey Nekrasov dived down to the wreckage with a group of other divers and stated that the plane was “unusual and beautiful” and “being in great condition”. Many of the divers had trouble reaching the airplane and it took them various tries to reach it. They needed to resurface for air every 2 minutes. 3. A Deep Sea “Graveyard” Between the years of 2008 and 2010, there were four large carcasses of marine creatures discovered on the ocean floor. These large animals were later identified as being the bodies of 1 whale shark and three rays. Footage recorded from ROVs or remotely operated vehicles were able to show the interesting inner workings of how these decaying corpses of fallen animals can serve as complex ecosystems towards populations of smaller creatures and maybe even able to sustain them. They reported around 50 scavenging fish near each of the carcasses while also witnessing eelpouts waiting for smaller scavengers to come by and then consume them. 2. An Alien-like Jellyfish This other-worldly looking creature was discovered back in April of this year just near the Mariana Trench, that is located in between Japan and the Philippines deep within the Pacific Ocean, on the Enigma Seamount. The jellyfish was seen 2.3 miles just below the surface of the ocean by the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research. It can be seen as having two sets of tentacles, one being much larger and the other being shorter. 1. The Ghost Octopus This interesting little octopod was discovered earlier this year back in March. The ghost octopus is believed to be the deepest dwelling octopod that doesn’t have any fins, unlike other species of deep dwelling octopods such as the “dumbo” octopus. The discovery of this new creature took place not too far off from where the Hawaiian archipelago is located. Pale in color due to the lack of pigment because it lives in the dark depths, the ghost octopus doesn’t show much muscle definition like other octopi, instead, it appears rather gelatinous in form. Not much else is known about these creatures as they’re still relatively new.

Deep Blue Sea (1999) - Shocking the Shark Scene (9/10) | Movieclips

Deep Blue Sea movie clips: http://j.mp/2jlZ2NR BUY THE MOVIE: http://bit.ly/2jgMx5q Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: http://bit.ly/1u2y6pr CLIP DESCRIPTION: Returning to her quarters to get her research, Susan (Saffron Burrows) is attacked by one of the killer sharks she created, but thankfully, due to some quick thinking, a quicker undressing and an electric cable, she solves the problem. FILM DESCRIPTION: Although mako sharks are among the fastest and deadliest predators in the ocean, they're not as smart as humans -- at least, they weren't. However, Dr. Susan McAlester (Saffron Burrows) has been using mako sharks as her test subjects for research on the regeneration of human brain tissues. McAlester has altered the DNA of several sharks, raising them close to the level of human intelligence; the sharks have also become faster and stronger in the process. While these DNA experiments have yielded fascinating results, they're also of questionable ethics and legality, earning her the distrust of several members of her crew, including shark authority Carter Blake (Thomas Jane and cook "Preacher" Dudley (LL Cool J). The financial backers of these experiments have also expressed skepticism, so when McAlester is ready to perform some major tests, financier Russell Franklin (Samuel L. Jackson) arrives for the occasion. McAlester and her team are delicately extracting brain tissue from one of the altered makos when the animal regains consciousness - and becomes very angry. The shark not only attacks the researchers but also damages the floating lab, leaving the crew aboard a literally sinking ship, with the makos eager to go a few rounds CREDITS: TM & © Warner Bros. Crazy DANGERS Of Deep Sea Diving

09:50
Of course, there are a ton of reasons to go for an adventure far under the surface of the ocean, but do you know all of the potential risks that accompany each and every dive? If you didn’t, here they are, these are the 15 Dangers Of Deep Sea Diving. #7 - Nitrogen Narcosis Nitrogen Narcosis is yet another serious issue divers need to be aware of. When the human body gets too much nitrogen in their system, it creates a kind of narcotic effect. It would feel like the nitrous-oxide gas given to you at the dentist’s office. While you might enjoy that woozy feeling when you’re inside a dentist’s office on dry land, this is not a feeling you would want to experience when you are far under water. Nitrogen narcosis damages both sensory perception and judgment making each decision the affected diver makes a potentially dire one. #6 - Gaps In Actual Experience If you are an experienced diver, you know that there is a rule that states you have to take a refresher course every six months that you haven’t been actively diving. Although you, being a diver, might laugh because you believe that the course really isn’t all that big of a deal, it really is very important. After not diving for just a few months, some of the very minor but incredibly important and vital details of the preparation or procedure of diving could be forgotten. Depending on which part you forget, that tiny sliver of information might just cost you your life. Just take the refresher course to get back in the loop. #5 - Losing Your “Buddy” It might seem silly but the “Buddy System” is really important when it comes to dives and swimming out in the ocean. If you have a buddy, there should always be at least one other person in the water that is concerned with your safety and survival. The ocean is not a place to lose your buddy. #4 - “The Bends” Decompression sickness is most often referred to as “the bends” and it is caused by increased pressure which makes the tissues in a body absorb more nitrogen. When that fierce pressure is suddenly reduced, the extra nitrogen can form tiny nitrogen bubbles that can kill. When deep sea divers want to return to the ocean’s surface, they must do so in distinct stages that are carefully monitored so that they can best control the rate of which the absorbed nitrogen is released. The bends can range from the affected having aching joints, a creepy skin rash, or paralysis and even possibly death. Do NOT go diving without being properly trained. It is not a hobby that you can just pick up an afternoon. #3 - Not Wearing Adequate Protection We aren’t just talking about wearing durable gloves while checking out a sunken shipwreck, although if you do get cut without wearing protective gloves, you can get tetanus, which doesn’t sound like fun. We’re talking about wearing gear that is suited to the climate and temperatures of the weather and the ocean you are diving into. When you are wearing a short wetsuit, don’t go play around in some coral where you can easily get cut up, which could lead to even more danger. Also, the temperature of the water gets colder the further down you get, so make sure you dress appropriately, it’s not like you can just put on a jacket once you’re underwater. #2 - Oxygen Toxicity Oxygen toxicity happens only when the person is deep sea diving and goes more than 135 feet below the surface. Just like nitrogen, which caused a lot of problems for divers earlier, the body absorbs more oxygen when the body finds itself underneath increased water pressure. Experienced divers know how to deal with the increase of oxygen but as the pressure and depth increase, the body absorbs more and more oxygen and too much can become toxic. The symptoms start with tunnel vision and nausea and then switch to loss of consciousness and seizures. If either one of the last things happens while you’re underwater, you’re most likely never making it to the surface again. #1 - Mask Squeeze The woman in this picture looks like she is about to start bleeding from her eyeballs which is a rather frightening thing to see. However, she isn’t a lead role in an up and coming horror film, she’s suffering from a diver’s condition called “mask squeeze.” When the pressure of the air inside the mask isn’t equalized correctly, the outside pressure causes the scuba mask to be pushed on the diver’s face resulting in this scary painful look. The small blood vessels surrounding and in the eyes burst, which leads to the bloody eyeballs you see here. This is not the look she was going for, we’re sure of that.

Most Amazing Cities Found UNDERWATER!

11:30
Here is the top list of mysterious sunken underwater cities in the world found underwater! These strange and mindblowing but also amazing forgotten ancient underwater ruins are located deep into the ocean. Check out Alexandria, City of Cuba, Yonaguni, Lake Titicaca, Pavlopetri, Lion City, Heracleion and more underwater cities! Yonaguni Pyramids In the mid 80s, Divers found underwater rock terraces and pyramids off the coast of Yonaguni Jima. Yonaguni Jima is an island that lies near the southern tip of Japan's Ryukyu archipelago, About 75 miles off the eastern coast of Taiwan. At first scientists believed they might be natural formations, but There are quarry marks and some writing on the stones and animal statues that have also been found underwater. Now some experts believe that The structures Could be what is left of the mythical city of Mu, a fabled Pacific civilization rumored to have vanished beneath the waves. Masaki Kimura, a marine geologist from the University of Japan, Has been studying the underwater pyramids for over 15 years. The underwater structures include castle ruins, a triumphal arch, five temples and at least one large stadium, all of which are Connected by roads and water channels and are partly shielded by what could be huge retaining walls. Kimura believes the ruins date back to at least 5,000 years, based on the dates of stalactites found inside underwater caves that he says sank with the city. The theory is that the ancient underwater city Might have been sunk by an earthquake or tsunami around 2,000 years ago. Yonaguni invites tourists and researchers to dive freely around the site. 2. Sunken City of Cuba In 2001, A company called Advanced Digital Communications (ADC) was working with Fidel Castro's government to explore Cuban waters looking for sunken Spanish ships loaded with treasure. Their Sonar equipment picked up a series of geometrical structures lying on the bottom of the ocean. Here's a computer generated image of the pyramids and other structures found underwater. The structures and design made it look like there was A gigantic underwater city at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle. The media went crazy claiming that Atlantis had been discovered in Cuba. There are local legends of the Maya and native Yucatecos that tell of an Island inhabited by their ancestors that vanished beneath the waves. If it's true the structures were made by an ancient civilization, they would have been the Most technologically advanced structures on the planet at that time. Scientists estimate that they would have been built about 50,000 years ago which doesn't seem very likely. The numerous structures and cities that have been discovered underwater around the world Lie less than 120 meters (or 395 feet) below sea level, which comes as no surprise since the sea level never fell below this mark during the time Homo sapiens walked the earth. This Cuban city, if we can call it that, is the Only exception since It is submerged over 700 meters (2300 feet) underwater. If the large structures are actually pyramids, 2 of them are Even larger than the pyramids of Giza and Cheops in Egypt. As of yet there is no plausible explanation for the existence of this city and ADC is still trying to investigate the site. 3. Lake Titicaca Lake Titicaca is Located in the Andes between Bolivia and Peru. It is the largest freshwater lake in South America and was the cradle of Peru's ancient civilizations, including the Inca. Their presence can be seen on Lake Titicaca by the ruins they left behind, including A mysterious underwater temple thought to be between 1,000 and 1,500 years old. In the Incan creation myth, The god Con Tiqui Viracocha emerged from Lake Titicaca. After commanding the sun, moon, and the stars to rise, Viracocha created more human beings from stone. After bringing them to life, Viracocha Commanded them to go and populate the world. The Incas therefore believed that Lake Titicaca was their place of origin, and that upon death, Their spirits would return to this lake. Archeologists located a huge temple in 2000 after following a submerged road (and I'm sure following advice from locals). After 18 days of diving below the clear waters of Titicaca, scientists said they had Discovered a 660-foot long, 160-foot wide temple, a terrace for crops, and a 2,600-foot containing wall along with gold and statues. It is said the lost city was Covered with sediment during a great flood of biblical proportions and local people had passed down the stories of the underwater temple and flood from generation to generation.
