What the National Defense Authorization Act really says?

07:05
The highly controversial National Defense Authorization Act is still awaiting the President's signature. The act contains an indefinite detention provision - giving the President of the United States the power to use the military to indefinitely detain you without trial if is says that you're a suspected terrorist. There've been protests across the country in response to the Act - including a dozen patriots with Occupy DC being arrested in front of the White House last week. But the Department of Justice announced on Wednesday that the President will indeed sign the National Defense Authorization Act into law - although he will also be issuing a signing statement regarding the indefinite detention provision specifically. So what might change in America once this act becomes law? And even though President Obama may try to limit his own new powers regarding indefinite detention with a signing statement - what about the next President? For more on this - Thom Hartmann joined by Scott Horton - a attorney, lecturer at the Columbia Law School, and contributing editor with Harper's Magazine

NO! National Defense Authorization Act. #NDAA

05:10
Sign this whitehouse.gov petition to convince President Obama to veto this bill: http://tinyurl.com/6q8x66s (I had to use tinyurl because Youtube/Google wouldn't let me post the real address) Dear brothers and sisters. Now is the time to open your eyes! In a stunning move that has civil libertarians stuttering with disbelief, the U.S. Senate has just passed a bill that effectively ends the Bill of Rights in America. The National Defense Authorization Act is being called the most traitorous act ever witnessed in the Senate, and the language of the bill is cleverly designed to make you think it doesn't apply to Americans, but toward the end of the bill, it essentially says it can apply to Americans "if we want it to. Bill Summary & Status, 112th Congress (2011 -- 2012) | S.1867 | Latest Title: National Defense Authorization Act for. This bill, passed late last night in a 93-7 vote, declares the entire USA to be a "battleground" upon which U.S. military forces can operate with impunity, overriding Posse Comitatus and granting the military the unchecked power to arrest, detain, interrogate and even assassinate U.S. citizens with impunity. Even WIRED magazine was outraged at this bill, reporting: Senate Wants the Military to Lock You Up Without Trial ...the detention mandate to use indefinite military detention in terrorism cases isn't limited to foreigners. It's confusing, because two different sections of the bill seem to contradict each other, but in the judgment of the University of Texas' Robert Chesney — a nonpartisan authority on military detention — "U.S. citizens are included in the grant of detention authority." The passage of this law is nothing less than an outright declaration of WAR against the American People by the military-connected power elite. If this is signed into law, it will shred the remaining tenants of the Bill of Rights and unleash upon America a total military dictatorship, complete with secret arrests, secret prisons, unlawful interrogations, indefinite detainment without ever being charged with a crime, the torture of Americans and even the "legitimate assassination" of U.S. citizens right here on American soil! If you have not yet woken up to the reality of the police state we've been warning you about, I hope you realize we are fast running out of time. Once this becomes law, you have no rights whatsoever in America. — no due process, no First Amendment speech rights, no right to remain silent, nothing. The US senate does not want us to speak. I suspect even now orders are being shouted into telephones and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice...intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance, coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those who are more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable. But again, truth be told...if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War. Terror. Disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you and in your panic, you turned to the now President in command Barack Obama. He promised you order. He promised you peace. And all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. More than four hundred years ago, a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness. Justice, and freedom are more than words - they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you, then I would suggest that you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek...then I ask you to stand beside one another, one year from November 5th, 2011, outside the gates of every court house of every city DEMANDING our rights!! Together we stand against the injustice of our own Government. We are anonymous. We are Legion. United as ONE. Divided by zero. We do not forgive Censorship. We do not forget Oppression. US SENATE... Expect us!!

Anri Baril Defense Media Activity - Europe Africa Staff Sergeant Rachel Nally, Launcher Section Chief, 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery conducts interview during Exercise Saber Strike. Saber Strike 18 is the eighth iteration of the long-standing U.S. Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise designed to enhance interoperability among allies and regional partners. This year's exercise, scheduled to take place from June 3-15, 2018, will focus on improving land and air operational capabilities with an additional key objective to train with NATO's enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) battlegroups. The eFP battlegroups located in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland are part of NATO's overall deterrence and defense posture and are designed to demonstrate the Alliance's determination and ability to act as one in response to any aggression against its members. NATO’s Multinational Corps North East will command and control multinational portions of the exercise. Key training events of Saber Strike 18 include a convoy by 2nd Cavalry Regiment from Germany to Latvia as they participate in different aspects of the exercise; an air assault operation in Lithuania; and bridge and river crossing operations in several locations to support freedom of movement. Nations scheduled to participate in the exercise include: Canada, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as NATO. The Press Camp will be part of a larger training exercise known as Saber Strike 2018. The event will take place between May 28 and June 24 2018. IEN NOW: Offshore Drilling Could Compromise National Defense

02:10
Last week, Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke unveiled The Trump Administration’s proposal that would allow for leasing more than 98 percent of U.S. coastal waters for offshore oil and natural gas drilling. The leases would be awarded by way of auctions held between 2019-2024. Now, you can image how the two biggest stakeholder groups felt about this one. The oil and gas companies obviously love the idea of dotting the U.S. coast with drilling platforms, while environmental groups aren’t really cool with throwing out the protections secured by President Obama.  However, what might be surprising are the growing list of lawmakers, manufacturers and military officials that oppose these moves. Leaders of states on both coasts, including California, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Virginia, New Jersey and New York are against the proposed leases. These states’ objections stem from interference with burgeoning offshore wind farm opportunities, and the impact these activities could have on other industries like tourism and fishing. So, while the whole concept driving the strategy is to help boost domestic energy production, it’s essentially turning that sector of manufacturing against those who make turbines, benefit from tourists and process seafood. Pentagon officials have also raised concerns about their ability to perform tactical training exercises if they’re dodging oil wells off the coasts of Virginia and Hawaii.  The Department of the Interior says these sales typically take about two years to finalize, and are subject to environmental review and analysis. The last such sale in the U.S. took place in 1980. In case you were wondering, the billions of dollars raised by these auctions go to the U.S. Treasury to be used as Congress and the President choose, but a smaller portion is provided to the Historic Preservation Fund and Land and Water Conservation Fund. These organizations help preserve properties on the National Register of Historic Places and appropriate funds for the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities. Neighboring states also provided with a portion of the proceeds.  The proposal now moves to legislative branch for further discussion.

‘Nothing new’ in new national defense strategy – Ron Paul Institute

The Pentagon has released a summary of its new national defense strategy, pivoting from fighting terrorism to strategic competition with Russia and China. Daniel McAdams of the Ron Paul Institute tells RT America’s Anya Parampil that the strategy amounts to a “return to the Wolfowitz doctrine of the mid 1990s,” wherein the goal is for elites to continue spending trillions on the US military and maintain US supremacy around the world. The Ministry of National Defense responded to the recent escalating disputes over the South China Sea. Senior officials of the US defense department criticized China’s construction practices in the region. National Defense University: Colonel MacGregor Intro

03:26
http://www.douglasmacgregor.com Find out where the Iraq Debacle began! http://www.warriorsrage.com On 26 February 1991, cavalry troops of ""Cougar Squadron,"" the 2nd Squadron of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, charged out of a sandstorm during Operation Desert Storm and caught Iraq's Republican Guard Corps in the open desert along the North-South grid line of a military map referred to as the ""73 Easting."" Taken by surprise, the defending Iraqi armor brigade was swept away in salvos of American tank and missile fire in what became the U.S. Army's largest tank battle since World War II. Douglas Macgregor, the man who trained and led Cougar Squadron into battle, recounts two stories. One is the inspiring tale of the valiant American soldiers, sergeants, lieutenants, and captains who fought and won the battle. The other is a story of failed generalship, one that explains why Iraq's Republican Guard escaped, ensuring that Saddam Hussein's regime survived and America's war with Iraq dragged on. Certain to provoke debate, this is the latest book from the controversial and influential military veteran whose two previous books, Breaking the Phalanx and Transformation Under Fire, are credited with influencing thinking and organization inside America's ground forces and figure prominently in current discussions about military strategy and defense policies. Its fast-moving battle narrative, told from the vantage point of Macgregor's Abrams tank, and its detailed portraits of American soldiers, along with vivid descriptions of the devastating technology of mounted warfare, will captivate anyone with a taste for adventure as well as an interest in contemporary military history. Douglas Macgregor, Colonel, USA (Ret.), is a decorated combat veteran with a PhD in international relations from the University of Virginia. He is the author of Breaking the Phalanx and Transformation under Fire and is a frequent guest on television and radio news shows. He is the lead partner of the Potomac League, LLC, in Reston, VA. Praise for his Transformation Under Fire: ""Transformation Under Fire offers a strident critique of recent Army transformation efforts while also providing the reader a comprehensive vision of near-term changes within the Department of Defense that could truly enhance our military's ability to conduct joint expeditionary operations. . . . Essential reading for military professionals and for those with oversight of defense programs.""Army Magazine

Macgregor's Speech at National Defense University

03:27
http://www.douglasmacgregor.com Find out where the Iraq Debacle began! http://www.warriorsrage.com On 26 February 1991, cavalry troops of ""Cougar Squadron,"" the 2nd Squadron of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, charged out of a sandstorm during Operation Desert Storm and caught Iraq's Republican Guard Corps in the open desert along the North-South grid line of a military map referred to as the ""73 Easting."" Taken by surprise, the defending Iraqi armor brigade was swept away in salvos of American tank and missile fire in what became the U.S.

Carlucci Funeral Service - Arlington National Cemetery ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY, VA, UNITED STATES 06.26.2018 Video by Mary Cochran Arlington National Cemetery Members from all five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces participate in the joint full military honors funeral service of former U.S. Secretary of Defense Frank C. Carlucci in Section 48 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, June 26, 2018. Carlucci served for two years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On Nov. 23, 1987, he succeeded Casper Weinberger as Secretary of Defense during the Reagan administration. During these 14 months, Carlucci did much to promote foreign and military policies, as well as manage the defense budget during the stock market crash of 1987 with his deputy secretary, William H. Taft IV. Carlucci left the office on Jan. 20, 1989, with the advent of the Bush administration. In an interview with reporters shortly before his departure as Secretary of Defense, Carlucci said he was most proud of three accomplishments: persuading Congress to agree to streamline base closing procedures, the conduct of the successful tanker escort operation in the Persian Gulf, and the development of a new, positive relationship with Soviet military authorities. Foreign Policy: Crash Course Government and Politics #50

10:00
Today Craig finishes up our series on U.S. Government and Politics by talking about both the least and most important aspect of government: foreign policy. Foreign policy is important because it has the potential to affect the largest number of people, but at the same time, it tends to play a minimal role in our perception of the government (unless we’re at war). Foreign policy addresses diplomacy, security, human rights, economics, and the environment at a global scale, and we’re going to talk about how our government has approached each of these policies in the past and which it tends to hold most important. As with all things political, the decisions made in fulfilling these policies can be pretty controversial, especially when considering that the President often has the last word in these issues. We hope this series has helped you better understand the way the U.S. government works and hopefully encouraged you to participate in the political process - here or wherever you may live. Thank you so much for watching! Study Package MATHEMATICS NDA & NA (National Defence Academy & Naval Academy) Entrance Exam Paperback – Oct 2015 A career in the Armed Forces is a great way to serve the United States of America in one of its five active duty military branches – Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard. Depending on the job selected, working can be akin to most civilian jobs – Monday through Friday, 9 to 5. However, other positions are more volatile, unpredictable, and adventuresome. The following guide will help interested individuals explore potential career paths by providing a high-level overview of the Armed Forces, including a look at different roles, related skills, earning potential, and employment outlook. NDA 2019 official notification has been released. Candidates willing to join Indian army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force have to appear for NDA Exam. NDA 1 Exam will be commenced on 21st of April, 2019 and NDA 2 Exam will be commenced on 17th of November, 2019. UPSC will conduct NDA Exam on behalf of National Defense Academy. Online Application Form will be available from January 9 at www.upsc.gov.in and the last date to fill online application form is 4th of February 2019. Career Paths in the Armed Forces Serving in the Armed Forces has always been a popular career option. The reasons for joining are as varied as the individuals themselves. Many serve to be part of something larger than themselves and to do what they feel is their patriotic duty. Others do it for the higher education financial aid benefits, such as the Student Loan Repayment program, Post 9/11 GI Bill®, Tuition Assistance and Tuition Top-Up. Still others want to be on the cutting edge of technology or pursue something that is challenging and life-changing. Army Automobile Maintenance Warrant Officer (915A) This position is similar to a civilian Shop Foreman found in most automobile dealerships or large repair shops. In charge of a shop, the Maintenance Technician supervises a variety of technician specialists ensuring all aspects of equipment maintenance are performed to the military standard, including equipment recovery, repair parts ordering and stock-age, body and hull repair, welding, electronics, armament, production control and quality control. While the position is normally located on a post in a fixed facility (a building), it can also become mobile and provide support from a field environment. The grade of this position can be from a Warrant Officer 1 (WO1) to a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4). Air Force Pilot Of those who set out to become a pilot, few actually make it, but for those who do, they are the best of the best and are well on their way to having one of the most exciting careers in the military. Air Force pilots fly either fixed wing, such as bomber, fighter, tanker or cargo planes, or rotary wing (helicopter) aircraft. Some positions require pilots to also be Instructor Qualified, so they can refresh the skills of other pilots through periodic qualification flights. Potential pilots must first pass a Class I Flying Physical, pass rigorous testing and complete an Officer Commissioning course through a Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program, Branch Officer School or the Air Force Academy. In most cases, commissioning must occur before one’s 29th birthday and in flight school by his or her 30th birthday. The Navy and Marines also employ pilots. Navy Flight Support This field has both officer and enlisted positions. Aviation Maintenance Duty Officers (AMDO) are Flight Support Supervisors who are responsible to ensure aircraft maintenance is performed correctly, provide operational support, and manage all material and manpower required so aircraft can fly. Enlisted members work under the supervision of an AMDO and are responsible for maintaining and operating aircraft catapult systems, along with ensuring landing gears, brakes and related systems work on some of the world’s most advanced aircraft. Work is normally performed on the flight deck under varied weather and environmental conditions. Flight Support is a critical position to ensure mission success. If planes on an aircraft carrier can’t fly, that carrier can’t project its military power from the air.
