Just a little footage from a day trip we recently took to Mt. Magazine State Park in Paris, Arkansas. No luck fishing but we saw some pretty creeks and the lake was so still and calm it looked like a giant mirror. Always a good time when we get outdoors and enjoy all that nature has to offer.

Mount Magazine is a very pleasant park with great hiking and a beautiful lodge. If we visit again, we will definitely stay in a cabin rather than in the lodge. The lodge had a more "touristy" feel to it. All in all a really nice place to visit.

Alison C.'s Review on The Dyrt: https://thedyrt.com/camping/arkansas/mount-magazine-state-park/review/39352 ▶︎ Beautiful park, great views and hiking. Mount Magazine is a beautiful State Park with great hiking trails. We hiked Signal Hill (highest point in Arkansas) and the North Rim Trail. Both were beautiful. This is a great place for families to camp. There is a welcome center with a small gift shop. Our campsite was spacious with water and electric although we were tent camping. Shower and bathroom facilities were nice and clean. They also had a place to hang glide. We checked out some of the cabins for future options, and they looked amazing with beautiful views. I finally compiled several of my video clips into segments of my camping trip in the fall of 2011. These clips were as the title suggests from Mt. Nebo campgrounds and Mt. Magazine -- which has become a favorite spot to try to catch during peak fall color. I included the clips from the lodge itself too -- which I have to say is a pretty spectacular state lodge relative to any others I have seen previously. As I am heard narrating in one of the clips -- I was apparently pretty impressed with the shower facilities at Mt. Nebo as well. LOL Very scenic area!

We're back on the road and this time we travel to two jewels of the Arkansas state park system -- Mt. Magazine and Petit Jean State Parks. We camped in our Winnebago RV at Mt. Magazine and made a day trip to Petit Jean. Hiking, biking, and enjoying our campsite are only a few of the things we loved about our visit to Mt. Magazine State Park.

In this video I head over to Mt. Magazine State Park to do a bit of hiking and backpacking. On day 1 I did some hiking around the top portion of Mt. Magazine while the weather was clear. I visited the summit at Signal Hill and The Lodge that sits on a south facing bluff near Signal Hill where I found a good spot to watch the sun set. I wrapped up day 1 with dinner at the car and about a 1 mile night hike on the Mt. Magazine Hiking Trail to Cove Lake to find camp for the night. On day 2 i started by gathering gear and supplies for an overnight hike and had breakfast at the car. I then set out on the Mt. Magazine Hiking Trail to Cove Lake, a 10 mile trail that spans from the top of Signal Hill down to Cove Lake, however i started from Cameron's Bluff so i started at roughly mile 2. At around mile 8 I decided to set up camp for the night and and finish the trail on the following day. Rain blew in on me while I was making camp and did not stop until the next day, so I goofed and did not get any video of my camp. On day 3 I slack packed the 1 mile to Cove Lake and explored it a bit in the rain then returned to camp to get my things and hit the trail back towards the ole Pontiac G6. The rest of day 3 was a mostly up hill trek through rain, beautiful woods, and small water runoffs until I entered the cloud that was producing the rain higher up on Mt. Magazine. For the last two and a half miles of the trail I walked mostly in silence listening to the distant calls of unseen birds and fat water droplets falling from the trees that seemed to echo in the dense wet cloud. With visibility as low as it was, other than those two sounds and the thudding of my footsteps, it seemed as though everything else in the world had stopped. I finished day 3 by summiting Signal Hill one last time before I packed up and headed home. I didn't get as much footage as I would have liked because my camera's memory was full. I'm gonna get that cleared up though and get better footage of camps and water sources and meals and such for y'all good folks. Pleas feel free to ask any questions or leave any comments or suggestions below. Thanks For Watching! :)

One of our game cameras on the slopes of Mount Magazine State Park caught a young male bear making his way up the side of the mountain and into the park, making him our first bear of the year. He is fresh out of hibernation, lean from his slumber, and still bearing his winter coat, making him appear fuzzy.

Located just outside the bustling downtown of Freeport, Maine, Bradbury Mountain State Park is an 800-acre state park in Pownal. The land was acquired by the federal government in 1939 with the park being founded in the 1940s. Its borders were extended in the 1990s and 2000s across Maine Route 9 with the addition of the Knight Woods parcels. Bradbury Mountain State Park was one of the Maine's original five state parks. While Bradbury Mountain itself is not particularly high—it stands less than 500 feet high—it is a popular destination for hikers, who are rewarded with good views after a relatively short climb. The underlying material, exposed at the summit, is granite and pegmatite. The park's trails have also become popular with mountain bikers, to whom most trails in the park are open. Bradbury Mountain is a popular hike during all seasons, including winter. Learn more about the Maine Outdoors at www.CampfireMagazine.com

December means the bears are hibernating until next spring. Instead, Mount Magazine State Park's game cams caught footage of two bucks "dueling." These two deer, a spike and a button buck, are young deer, practicing fighting with each other, resulting in a muted fight. #arstateparks www.mountmagazinestatepark.com
