Top 3 Legal LEGO Alternatives to Lepin - Best LEGO Compatible Brands
In this video we’re going to take a look at three alternatives to real LEGO. These are also alternatives to Lepin, which is a counterfeit brand that steals LEGO designs. You won’t believe the brand at number. So here are three of the best LEGAL alternatives to LEGO.
At number three we have the really cheap brands that you’ll find in your local discount store. In the UK, we have brands like Block Zone, WIlko Blox, Block Tech, just to name three. They often come in massive boxes and are very cheap. Great if you want a quick, cheap build, but the down side is that the models are often poorly designed, they bump up the brick count by including lots of small and unnecessary bricks, and the models just aren’t as impressive as they look on the box. But they’re cheap so they’re worth it!
At number two, we have the luxury LEGO brands. We’re talking Kre-o and Mega bloks. Mega Bloks are focussing mainly on sets for kids now, but you should still be able to find some amazing models like the Starship Enterprise ship, bridge, and transporter room. Kre-o also make licensed models, for example they make a lot of transformer sets. These sets are great because they’re officially licensed so you can sleep at night, but they’re also well designed and look brilliant!
Finally, at number 1, we have a brand called Xingbao. One thing that really used to annoy people about Lepin was that it would steal the MOC (my own creation) designs of really talented people and sell them without giving any credit (financially or otherwise) to the authors. Well Xingbao are another Chinese company that are making everything from tanks, to cars, to buildings, and they are actually paying MOC designers for their work. So they haven’t stolen the designs from LEGO or from normal people. I’ve had a look at their work on Aliexpress and it looks like an amazing selection of sets.

Mega bloks is not a rip off lol. It has its own fucking buildable figures and has way original sets. It focuses on REAL things like military and cool stuff like Halo. Mega bloks is not a alternative to Lepin and in some ways better then Lepin
I recently purchased the Cobi Fokker DR.1 "Red Baron". The quality of the set was amazing, almost on par with genuine Lego parts and designs. What's also good is how we'll never get Lego models of these historical ww1 and ww2 vehicles. Unfortunately, the figures are, for a lack of a better word, crap. I'll have to find some real Lego figures to replace them.
I just finished building the Xingbao 03023 Red Blizt.
This is a moc, representing the Ferrari 312T formula1 car from 1975.
The kit came in a small cardboard box stuffed with 45 numbered bags with parts and a manual. All bags (except the last one with spare parts) have a larger number from 1 to 8, which is used in the manual.
The manual is clear, but not as clear as an original Lego manual.
The bricks are oke, the fit together fine, sometimes it's hard to get them together, but they are never loose.
The casting is clearly visible an especially the flat plates. Some are finished roughly.
Some of the bricks are slightly different colour.
So overall: (as a formula1 fan)
* The design is perfect, very detailed.
* The quality of the bricks is oke, not as good as Lego, but not too bad.
* The quality of the build is a little less than original Lego, but that might have to do with the detailed model.
I also have the Xingbao 03022, the bleu dream car, a moc of the Eagle Westlake MK1 formula1 car of 1967.
I hope it will be as nice as this one, although I think 1 bag is missing.
I'm gonna guess that most of you have never built a Lepin kit in your lives. Get off your high horses and buy a kit. It doesn't have to be the UCS Millennium Falcon (that can be had at the paltry sum of $286 with free shipping) but any little kit they offer. If you don't want to then your arguments are moot. That means pointless. You can't say something sucks without even finding out for yourself. That just makes you look dumb. Now i'll sit back and wait for the uneducated insults to come rolling in.
Never, EVER buy best-lock bricks
They’re awful quality and design is horrible
Also what other brand has reproductions of discontinued LEGO trains? I can’t buy the emerald night unless I have 500-700 dollars
Lego feeds the evil price gougers, especially around the holidays. Star Wars execs are fricken billionaires that are sitting fat and pretty whether Lepin exists or not. Don’t question the integrity of desperate parents... especially around Christmas time... you’ll lose. BTW, you got kids?
Yep, it's simply amazing how little this chap knows about the subject, and yet he still churns out these videos, full of misinformation. Well intentioned I'm sure, but totally clueless with regards to any of the bootleg bands. He really should stick to reviews of things he knows about. It's not even the blind leading the blind, because judging by a lit of the comments, most of his viewers are considerably more knowledgeable than he is! :)
Anyone remember Character Building? Character's own Lego line, and they did license themed sets such as Doctor Who, HM Armed Forces, Ben 10, Deadly 60, Scooby-Doo, and I think also Looney Toons.
The figures werent too bad, especially the Daleks, which i thought were far better than Lego's brick built ones.T sets however were sort of hit and miss.
CB's HM Armed Forces line had some pretty impressive ones such as the Challenger 2 Tank, though the treads never rolled properly. And then there was the Type 45 Destoyer, which was pretty solid. But other sets in the line, like the Merlin Helicoper or the RAF
Hercules plane were mostly two large moulded pieces of plastic you stuck together.
Also, apparently Cobi, a Polish Lego toy KO were the ones who made the actual moulds and would use them later in their military line.
COBI !!! Polish,EU company with great WW2 tank and plane models. They also make their own pirate sets,Pinguins of Madagaskar licensed sets and have great car designs. And bricks quality, unlike some chinese brands,is very, very similar to LEGO,some say it's identical. Still, they cost half the price of LEGO.
I am currently building the Xingbao martial arts school. I love the design and the instructions are fine. The blocks are acceptable quality. However, the number of missing bricks is just a joke. I am half way through and at least 20 bricks missing so far. For this reason alone I would be reluctant to buy any other Xingbao sets.....
This WAZ Tank looks amazing!!! Compact power functions! Shooting bricks!
Schtaiv1973 Why do you say this about the Lele brand? I was thinking about starting to try to get some of the Lego copies but I have never done this yet (all I have ever gotten is the real Lego sets so far)...could you explain why you said SUPER insulting like this plz? I DON'T want to waste my time with garbage that won't work...
Misleading title..... you are critiquing the companies of the producers more than their product. Secondly, MB is worse quality than kre-o or Tyco (which should be #1 for brick quality) Lepin close third.
Commenting because i want you to make better videos since the content is interesting
there are many chinese brands that not ripping lego design. such: kazi (they focus make vehicle/military), enlighten (they have nice minifigures series), sembo (focus on mini modular building), sluban (some says sluban from europe factoy, some says from chinese), oxford (buy this one from korea, and the price also $$$$$ like lego price, lol), and many more.
and as i know, chinese brand (except lepin) now 'a bit' affraid to copy lego design, usually they 'only' copy the theme (nexo or superheroes for example) but minifigs design or sets are much different.
kazi is a branch of SY who make bootleg lego i have found a card box from SY in a kazy set ... ( SY who is also the same group of sembo ) and the kazi train gbl KY98101 is like the lego train maersk 10219 ;)
lego is also a counterfeit. In the late 1940s, a company called Kiddicraft began manufacturing “Kiddicraft Self-Locking Building Bricks”, which were patented by Hilary Harry Fisher Page. Kirk Kristiansen, the founder of LEGO, came across these bricks in a demo he was shown of an injection molding machine. He then copied these bricks and sold them under his own brand as “automatic binding bricks”. It isn’t clear whether Kristiansen knew these bricks were patented or not at the time or just saw the potential of such a small plastic brick as a toy product when observing the injection molding machine demo. Lucky for him, Page died without ever finding out LEGO had copied his product illegally. Some 31 years later, LEGO acquired Kiddicraft when they were preparing to, ironically enough, sue Tyco for illegally copying their bricks. In the end, LEGO lost the case and Tyco was allowed to continue selling the bricks, which at the time were earning them about $20 million annually.
I was stating the fact that lego stole its idea done.....and also I was saying buy what ever gets your hard on yah feel me. its a free market, please learn to get the fuck over it. lol . lego has had plenty ups and downs they just fired how many ppl? I like lego but get much more enjoyment personally no hard feeling kids spending less money for same quality brick.
Christopher Johnson, yea but there's the issue, they're the same. Lepin is stealing LEGO's hard work on designing and processing the designs. It's like being a car company and then a new car company rises and literally copies all of your designs.
Cupcakes brothers again theres certain pieces that are entertaining or unavailable in LEGO like weapons, accessories, and my personal favorite, a 1X1 cylinder brick with 2 holes on either side. looks like a nice machine gun barrel shroud
Court documents state that the “orange wrappers on British Toffee Crisp candies are too similar to wrappers on Reese's Peanut Butter Cups” and “England's Yorkie chocolate bars should also be forbidden, because they are too similar in name to Hershey's York Peppermint Patties,
They arent fake candy bars they are real candy bars
Gandalf as a Maia (named Olórin) before leaving the Undying Lands.
Originally called Olórin , he was accounted as the wisest of the Maiar (with the possible exception of Melian). He was a Maia of Manwë and Varda. He also served under two other Valar, such as Irmo and Nienna. When the Valar decided to send the order of the Istari (also known as Wizards) to Middle-earth, to counsel and assist all those in Middle-earth who opposed the Dark Lord Sauron, Manwë and Varda decided to include Olórin among the five who were sent.
At first, Olórin was nervous and described himself as too weak and too afraid of Sauron. Manwë understood, and told him that that was one main reason why he should go, to overcome that fear. Thus, he insisted that Olórin should go as the third, but Varda convinced him not to include Olórin as the third, but as the second. Olórin agreed, and prepared for his departure from the Undying Lands with the other four wizards.
Arrival in Middle-earth.
When he arrived to Middle-earth, he received Narya, the ring of fire, from Círdan the Shipwright. Olórin, renamed Gandalf , spent many centuries walking among the elves as a stranger, learning from them and teaching them. He later revealed himself as one of the Istari, and eventually became known as the wisest of and most powerful of that order. He joined the White Council, which was formed to investigate a dark power in Dol Guldur, of which Galadriel wanted him to become the leader, yet Saruman came to lead the Council instead of him. Although Saruman was initially more powerful and more knowledgeable about many matters regarding Sauron and the Rings of Power, and was head of the White Council before the War of the Ring, he later grew jealous and afraid of Gandalf, which was the reason of his betrayal.
